Haskell Football Players Tabbed Pre-Season All-Americans

USA Football News Selects Chaffin and Hammer

(Lawrence, Kansas) – Haskell Indian Nations University football Seniors Caleb Chaffin and Jesse Hammer have been selected to the 20thAnnual USA College Football NAIA Pre-Season All-American Team for the 2012 College Football Season.

Chaffin, a wide receiver from Lone Grove, Oklahoma finished the 2011 season ranked 8thin the nation in receptions per game, and 11thin total receptions.  Hammer, also a First Team Selection, is from Kansas City, Kansas, and primarily takes the field as an offensive lineman.  As members of the Class of 2013, Chaffin and Hammer will have an opportunity as candidates for the 2012-2013 USA Football Holiday Bowl Classic for NAIA Seniors set for December 14-17, 2012.

Joining Chaffin and Hammer, and featured on the West Region All-Regional Team is junior quarterback Maverick Lang, and defensive backs Malcolm GuestWylie Waters, and Canku One Star.  Lang from Pocola, Oklahoma, finished the 2011 season as a backup quarterback with 535 passing yards.  On the West Region Defensive Team, Guest, a junior from Eagle Butte, South Dakota, earned his spot on the team by completing his 2011 season with 2 block kicks, 71 total tackles, and 2 sacks.  Fellow junior, also from Eagle Butte, South Dakota, Waters tallied 75 total tackles, and 1 interception in his 2011 season.   Rounding out the West Defensive Team is One Star, a sophomore from Rosebud, South Dakota.  As a freshman (2011 season), One Star earned three national rankings, including a 25thspot in Division I Total Kick Off Returns, 27thin Interceptions Per Game, and 31stin Total Interceptions (4).

USA College Football, Inc. also selected Peter Mahoney.  Mahoney, a senior linebacker from Plummer, Idaho completes the West Region Team.
