Hardrocker’s announce the signing of Alejandro Rama (Oglala) as the newest member of the SD Mines roster for the 2019-2020 Season

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The South Dakota School of Mines men’s basketball program recently added one of the best local high school talents when Hardrocker head coach Eric Glenn announced the signing of local standout Alejandro Rama (Oglala Lakota as the newest member of the SD Mines roster for the 2019-20 season.

Rama is a 6-foot-1-inch, 180-pound  guard who is playing his final season for the Red Cloud High School Crusaders in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. He has a long list of accomplishments during his high school career, including: All-State, All-Conference and All-Conference Honorable Mention accolades as well as  being a team captain and team MVP. Rama also helped the Crusaders to a 21-5 record last season and a trip to the South Dakota State Class A Boys’ Basketball tournament (finished fifth).

“It’s great to see Alejandro having such a successful senior campaign,” Glenn said. “They are barely at the halfway point of the season and he’s already putting up some seriously impressive numbers. He’s going to be a great fit to our system and he’s sure to have an immediate impact on our team.”

After this past weekend, Rama has accumulated 331 points just 10 games into the season. He is averaging 33.1 points per game and is shooting 48 percent from the field thus far. He is also averaging 4.7 assists per game, 9.9 rebounds per game and 4.7 steals per game. Rama finished his junior season averaging 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals per game.

While attending South Dakota Mines, Rama plans to pursue a degree in Industrial Engineering.

“I’m proud to be a member of the Hardrockers men’s basketball program because I have put countless hours in the gym to get to this point and be with this program and so has everyone else in the program,” Rama said. “Hardrockers equals hard workers.”
