STARKVILLE – Part of Neshoba Central’s state championship dynasty, nationally-ranked pitcher Aspen Wesley (MS Choctaw) joins as the seventh member of the 2019 Mississippi State softball signing class as announced by head coach Vann Stuedeman.

“We are thrilled Aspen chose Mississippi State,” Stuedeman said. “She has owned the state of Mississippi in the circle since middle school for Neshoba Central.  Last season, she won the state championship at Nusz Park.  She has filthy spin that creates miss-hits and swing and misses.  We are looking forward to her winning more championships at Nusz Park as a Mississippi State Bulldog.”

Wesley, a native of Philadelphia, Mississippi, has earned six letters with Neshoba Central and has brought home the 5A Mississippi State Championship for five consecutive seasons since 2014. She was also listed as the No. 86 recruit of the 2019 signing class by FloSoftball.

“I chose Mississippi State because it has always been my dream to be in a Bulldog uniform,” said Wesley. “Playing in front of my home state means a lot to me. I can’t wait to be there. I’m ready to be a Bulldog. Hail State!”

Wesley has earned multiple individual accolades on top of her five state championships, including being named Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year in 2016, 2017 and 2018. She has been selected First Team All-State on five occasions and was named an Underclassman All-American by MaxPreps in 2016, 2017 and 2018. She is also a two-time MaxPreps Player of the Week on two occasions over her career.

As a junior, Wesley held an 0.24 earned run average in the circle behind 15 shutouts and nine no-hitters as she posted a 23-0 record. She struck out at total of 316 batters faced and tossed one perfect game last season. At the plate, Wesley ended her junior season with a .421 batting average.

Posting a 25-2 record in the circle as a sophomore, Wesley turned in a 0.77 earned run average. She tossed 15 shutouts and one no-hitter, while striking out 349 batters. She also held a .247 batting average at the plate.

Over her freshman season, Wesley finished the season with a 24-1 record. She recorded three no-hitters and 14 shutouts to post a 0.18 earned run average. She tallied 294 shutouts and held a .338 average at the plate.

Wesley is also a member of the Alabama Sparks Elite under head coach Slade Smith. Outside of softball, Wesley volunteers with projects like Glow Run and several other local activities.
