HENRYETTA, OK — Dog Soldiers 4 Jesus Christ Sports Ministry seeks Native American applicants for the Diamond Showcase to be held May 22-24, 2015 at the McAlester High School baseball field. An elite team will be formed from showcase to compete in Annual NABI/Arizona Diamondbacks National Native American Baseball Tournament.

This “Diamond Showcase,” a Native American high school baseball skills evaluation and tournament, is open to any Native American High School baseball player in the United States. The showcase will include a one day evaluation, pool play and awards ceremony. Awards will be given to the outstanding defensive and offensive players, outstanding pitcher and overall MVP. The players selected for the elite team will be notified by phone on Monday, June 1.

Players may begin registering on April 20, 2015 for a $40 non-refundable fee. Custom-made hats and jerseys will be provided before pool play begins. Those who register must have participated in high school baseball this year. After registration is complete, players will be evaluated on May 22, followed by a draft onto respective teams that will begin pool-play on Saturday, May, 23. The top teams will then be placed in a championship game. An elite traveling team will be created from the players who participated in the Diamond Showcase. The team will then embark on an all expenses paid trip to Phoenix, Arizona. Players selected for the team will be notified on Monday, May 25, 2015. Depending on the number of players that tryout, a possibility of a second team may be formed.

“The showcase is not only a great opportunity for our kids to be seen by scouts, but also it gives them a chance to visit different places outside the state of Oklahoma,” said Bryan McGertt, DS4JC Head Baseball Coach. “Also, we will utilize our relationships with college coaches throughout the surrounding states to maybe give a kid an opportunity of playing college level baseball.”

Along with the Diamond Showcase, the team will also compete in the Catzer Classis, Ft. Smith Arkansas, Texarkana Tournament, 4th of July Bash, and the OU Showcase.
