Derick Denny (Oneida Tribe) Scores 19 Points as Muskies dominate second half to defeat Northland International

DUNBAR, Wis. – Derick Denny (Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin) and Joey Burris (Sr.-Kiel, Wis.) both scored 19 points and the Lakeland College men’s basketball team overcame a sluggish start to roll to a 85-45 win over Northland International University Monday night in a non-conference game.

Denny and Burris combined for nine three-pointers, with Denny making 5 of 7 and Burris hitting 4 of 9 from long distance. The duo carried the heaviest scoring load as the Muskies improved to 3-0 while dropping the Lumberjacks to 0-5.

Lakeland led 41-27 after a sloppy first half, but opened the second half on a run to quickly push the lead to 30. The Muskies substituted freely in the second half and a total of 17 different players scored.

Tanner Hackl (Fr.-West De Pere, Wis.) added eight points off the bench, while Jacob Servais (So.-Coon Valley, Wis.) and Zach Van Engen (Jr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) both had six points each. Servais and Eric Nygaard (Fr.-Plymouth, Wis.) both had five rebounds and Brandon Hagenow (Jr.-Sussex, Wis.) led the team with four assists.

The Muskies open Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play Saturday when they travel to face Concordia University Chicago for a 4:15 p.m. tip in River Forest, Ill.
