KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes held its second annual NABC-NAIA All-Star Game last Saturday at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. The event was staged in conjunction with the 2015 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship, and featured Embry-Riddle’s DeForest Carter (Seminole) as one of the All-Stars from the NAIA II ranks.

The NABC-NAIA Men’s Basketball All-Star Committee determined the selection criteria and oversaw the selection process. The All-Stars were seniors in eligibility status and were open for submission by head coaches in 101 Division I schools and 133 Division II schools. Selection criteria took into account season statistics, awards and a champions-of-character aspect. The Committee is comprised of coaches from both Division I and Division II ranks.

Carter’s squad, “Team Miles” named after NAIA Hall of Famer Danny Miles (Oregon Tech), fell four points short of the NAIA I team, “Team Lamar” (Rocky Lamar, MidAmerica Nazarene), 100-96 as the NAIA I team claimed the All-Star game crown for the second straight season.

Carter, staying true to his style of play for four seasons with the Eagles, dished out a game-high seven assists, pulled down five rebounds and collected two steals for his squad, all in less than 20 minutes of action.

“It was a lot of fun playing in the All-Star Game,” Carter said. “I got to play with some of the very best players in the NAIA which was was really cool. I was able to see several of them play at the national tournament last week and even played against a couple of them. It was an all around great experience.”

(Note: On the men’s NAIA DI All-Star team, Matt Qualls (Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma) also participated. He also finish he is collegiate career and was the #1 leading scorer in the nation this season as well)
