Deforest Carter (Seminole) to Represent ERAU Men’s Basketball on NAIA II All-Star Roster

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Add another highlight to DeForest Carter‘s illustrious Embry-Riddle career. The senior guard from Big Cypress, Fla. will represent the Eagles at the second annual NABC-NAIA Men’s Basketball All-Star Game on March 21 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City in conjunction with the 78th annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship

Carter (Seminole Tribe of Florida) is one of just 10 seniors in NAIA II Men’s Basketball to make the roster as the team was selected by the NABC-NAIA Men’s Basketball All-Star Committee, which is comprised of head coaches from both Division I and Division II. Criteria takes into account season statistics, awards and postseason experience.

The Sun Conference Player of the Year, Carter led the Eagles to their best regular season in program history at 29-1 before helping the Blue and Gold win the 2015 Sun Conference Tournament title for the second time in his four-year career.

Carter is averaging 12.9 points, 6.6 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 3.7 steals in his final campaign with Embry-Riddle. In addition to his TSC Player of the Year award, Carter was named a first team All-Sun Conference performer for the third time and was a unanimous selection to the All-Defensive Team and The Sun Conference All-Tournament Team.

Carter is Embry-Riddle’s all-time leader in assists (791), steals (359) and steals per game (2.7), ranking in the top 10 in eight other categories, including:  seventh all-time in scoring (1,733), 10th in field goals made (572), 10th in free threw percentage (.705), eighth in rebounds (698), second in assists per game (6.0), second in blocked shots (172), third in blocked shots per game (1.3) and seventh in
games played (131).

Joining Carter from The Sun Conference is Southeastern big man Timothy Mitchell. It marks the second straight season The Sun Conference has had two seniors selected to the All-Star roster.
