Caylin Livers (Cherokee) Leads Connors State with 15 Points in Road Win at Arkansas Baptist College

After being off for two weeks due to bad weather the Cowgirls returned to the court on Monday night as they traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas to take on Arkansas Baptist College Lady Buffs, and the Cowgirls didn’t disapooint. The Cowgirls came out strong in the game defeating host team Arkansas Baptist 80-59 to move to 5-3 on the season. The Cowgirls only trailed in the game twice early in the first quarter, and then never looked back. The Cowgirls out scored their opponents in each giving them the easy road win. Leading the Cowgirls in scoring was sophomore guard Caylin Livers (Cherokee) with 15 points followed by Kionce Woods who had 14 points, Cheyanne Crain add 13 points, and finally two post players Isabel Gonzalez and Chalynn Mayes both add 11 points. 

“I felt like we came out a little sloppy to start the game tonight but then once we found our rythm i felt like we never looked back,” said Head Cowgirl Basketball Coach Jamie Fisher. “It was good to see 5 players score in double figures tonight, and have a couple players like Caylin and Kionce step up scoring wise.” 

The Cowgirls locked down the Lady Buffs and extended their lead early in the 4th quarter going up as much as 24 points after some good defensive stands, and then capatlizing on the offensive end.

“I felt like we did a really good in the second half of mixing up our defenses, and execuiting inside of our zone defense to force them to take bad shots.” said Fisher
