Brittany Brownotter (Standing Rock Sioux) Places 6th Overall to Start Cross Country Season at NDSU Bison Open

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women’s cross country team had four top-10 finishers at the Bison Open held at Rose Creek Golf Course on Friday evening.

Sophomore transfer Brittany Brownotter (Standing Rock Sioux) placed sixth in 14:23.5, and freshman Emma Kusch Dahle took ninth in her collegiate debut in 14:56.9.

Jenny Guibert finished 10th for NDSU in 15:02.1. Freshman Alaysia Freetly completed the team scoring for the Bison in 24th place, crossing the line in 15:40.3.

The meet was scored to reflect true dual scores between the four schools competing – NDSU, South Dakota, South Dakota State, and North Dakota – using the top five finishers from each team. NDSU was 2-1 on the evening, with wins over SDSU and UND.

The Bison defeated SDSU, 26-29, and UND, 19-38. South Dakota, the preseason Summit League favorite, topped NDSU by a score of 23-34.

Junior standout Erin Teschuk did not compete for NDSU, holding out of the meet for the purpose of rest after recently returning from the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China.

The next scheduled competition for the Bison will be the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., on Sept. 26.
