Brittany Brownotter (Sioux) Finishes 33rd Overall at Stanford Invitational; No. 2 Finisher for NDSU Bison

STANFORD, Calif. – North Dakota State junior Erin Teschuk captured first place at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday morning, winning an individual crown and setting a new school record in her 2015 cross country debut.

Teschuk completed the six-kilometer course in 20:06.8, trimming half a second off her previous NDSU school record for that distance. She cut 55 seconds off her time from the Stanford Invitational one year ago.

Thirty women’s teams and 255 runners competed in the meet. The Bison women finished sixth in the Division I team race with 241 points as host Stanford won the overall team title.

Sophomore Brittany Brownotter (Standing Rock Sioux) was the No. 2 finisher for NDSU, placing 33rd overall in 21:46.4 for the 6k. Junior Taylor Janssen took 54th place in 22:11.5.

A pair of true freshmen rounded out the team scoring for the Bison. Emma Kusch Dahle finished 97th in 22:54.8, andAlaysia Freetly was 103rd in 23:00.3.

Teschuk did not compete in NDSU’s first meet of the season on Sept. 4, holding out for the purpose of rest after an extended track season that concluded at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, in late August.

The Bison will race next at the SDSU Classic in Brookings, S.D., on Saturday, Oct. 3.
