Brandon Little Axe, from nation’s No. 1 prep squad, signs with OCU Eagles

press release –

NORMAN, Okla. (June 13, 2012) – Brandon Little Axe (Absentee Shawnee tribe) of Norman North High School, one of the top goal scorers in Class 6A boys soccer, has signed to play collegiately at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach David Scott said.

Little Axe, named on Wednesday as The Oklahoman’s All-City Boys Player of the Year, is one of the most decorated players to sign with OC in recent years. He scored 22 goals and had five assists this season for Norman North, which went 17-0, won the Class 6A title and finished No. 1 nationally in the ESPN Powerade Fab 50 Boys Soccer Spring Rankings.

Little Axe scored both of the Timberwolves’ goals in a 2-1 win over Tulsa Union in the state championship game last month.

He was named to The Oklahoman’s All-City first-team list as well as the Oklahoma Soccer Coaches Association’s Class 6A West All-State team. He scored a goal – off an assist from fellow OC signee Fraol Legesse of U.S. Grant – in a 3-1 loss to the East team last Saturday’s 6A All-State game in Stillwater.

“Brandon is a very dangerous player,” Scott said. “He has a knack for getting into the right spaces in front of the goal and is a clinical finisher. He causes problems for defenders, as he can play with his back to the goal, but also possesses good pace and can get behind the defense.

“He scores a lot of goals, but he also opens up opportunities for his teammates due to his movement off the ball and the attention he draws.”
