by CORPUS CHRISTI – The Hooks closed out the season’s first half with a 7-1 win Monday over the Arkansas Travelers at Whataburger Field behind 5.0 scoreless innings from Brandon Bailey (Chickasaw Nation).
Bailey (W, 1-2) tied a career-high with eight strikeouts while allowing just two hits and a walk against the Texas League-leading Travelers. Between the third and fifth innings, he retired seven straight, including six punchouts.
The 24-year-old hasn’t allowed a run over his last three appearances (2 starts), spanning 12.2 innings with 16 strikeouts and just seven hits and two walks allowed.
