IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine won its second Big West game in as many days over Cal Poly by a score of 67-44, Saturday afternoon in the Bren Events Center.
Winning its sixth-straight, UCI remains on top of the Big West standings with a perfect 4-0 conference record. The ‘Eaters improve to 8-4 overall. Cal Poly (2-10) falls to 0-6 in the Big West.
The Anteaters also stay unbeaten at home with a 7-0 record in the Bren.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
> Collin Welp finished with a season high 18 points, all of them coming in the second half, on 7-10 shooting overall. Welp’s 18 points came in 18 minutes of action
> JC Butler set a new career high scoring 15 points including a career best three three-pointers made. Butler also grabbed four steals, a career best
> Greene (Shoshone/Paiute) finished in double-figures with 12 points. Greene and Austin Johnson each finished with seven rebounds
> Justin Hohn dished out a team high three assists and scored four points
> Cal Poly’s Alimamy Koroma led his team with 10 points and seven boards
> For the second night in a row UCI controlled the boards, 38-31, and the paint, 28-8
> The ‘Eaters shot 36.7 percent (22-60) from the floor overall and held the Mustangs to just 27.9 percent (12-43) overall. UCI went 5-12 (.417) from behind the arc and 18-21 (.857) from the free throw line
