Alejandro Rama (Oglala Lakota) Leads SD Mines with 21 Points in 80-74 Win over Colorado State-Pueblo

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The South Dakota Mines men’s basketball team defeated the Colorado State University Pueblo Thunderwolves, 80-74, Tuesday night at Goodell Gymnasium.

Both teams went back and forth with 18 lead changes in the first half. Both the ‘Rockers and the T-Wolves had scoring runs of six points with the T-Wolves leading as much as five at one point. The Hardrockers went into the locker room down one 35-34.

The game stayed close and it was all tied up at 46-46 five minutes into the second half. The ‘Rockers took the lead, 58-57, and led as much as seven points with 2:30 left in the game. The ‘Rockers went on a 9-0 run with clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the game.

Three Hardrockers finished the game with double digit scoring. Alejandro Rama (Oglala Lakota) led the way with 21 points, shooting 8-15 from the floor. Brevin Walter turned in a solid performance with 17 points and Brannagh Walsh added 11. The Rockers shot 50 percent (11-22) from three-point land and 49.2 percent (29-59) from the floor.
