Aidan Thomas (Laguna Pueblo) Leads New Mexico State Aggies Men’s Golf to Top Ten Finish

LAREDO, Texas – Freshman Aidan Thomas (Laguna Pueblo) put together a spectacular round on the final day of the Border Olympics to give the Aggies a top ten finish in a loaded field. As a team, the Aggies jumped three spots on the final day to finish 10th with a total score of 900 (+36).

After posting a first round score of 77 (+5) and a second round score of 73 (+1), Thomas was a man on a mission in the third round, as he rattled off seven straight pars before recording birdies on two out of the next three holes to shoot a 34 (-2) on the front nine of the Laredo Country Club. Thomas would get a birdie on the par-three 12th to put him at three-under for the day. Thomas suffered his only bogey of the day on the 16th hole but would bounce back with a birdie on the par-five 17th, the final hole of the day, to slide the Aggies into 10th in the team standings. Thomas finished the tournament tied for 13th with a score of 219 (+3).

Thomas wasn’t the only Aggie to have a solid final day on the course, as freshman Matthew Jackman and Mauricio Figueroa posted rounds of 73 (+1) and 74 (+2).
