Aidan Thomas (Laguna Pueblo) Fired a final round 71 to finish at -2, T-14 at the Gene Miranda Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – Behind another strong day from sophomore Aidan Thomas (Laguna Pueblo), the NM State men’s golf program closed out play at the Gene Miranda Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Eisenhower Blue Course.
 
Firing his second consecutive under-par round, Thomas used birdies on 16 and 18 to fire a one-under round of 71. Combined with his round of 69 on Saturday, Thomas ran his score to -2 for the week which was good for a tie for 14th.
 
Other NM State highlights included Alvaro Morales firing a front-nine 32 that featured five birdies and Scott Rescigno firing an even par 72.
 
As a team the Aggies fired a team score of 878 (+14) to finish in 11th place, three shots clear of CSU-Northridge (+17) and four shots clear of WAC rival Utah Valley (+18).  
 
UC Davis ran away with the team title at the event hosted by the Air Force Academy, firing a combined team score of 831 (-33)The UC Davis Aggies also had the individual champion, Thomas Hutchinson who fired a final round 71 to finish at -15 for the tournament.
 
Both UC Davis’ team score (-33) and Hutchinson’s individual score (-15) were tournament records.
