SilentRain Espinoza (Kumeyaay Tribe) clubbed a three-run homer for the No. 3 Huskies who Win 7-4 Over No. 4 Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz.  – The #3 Washington Huskies finished off another Pac-12 series sweep, this time taking down the #4 Arizona Wildcats 7-4 for their third straight win in Tucson. Washington has now won six straight games over the Wildcats and will enter the final weekend of the regular season 42-7, with a 17-4 record in Pac-12 play. Those 17 Pac-12 wins are tied for the most in Heather Tarr’s tenure and have not been bested by the Huskies since 1998.

The freshman duo of SilentRain Espinoza (Kumeyaay Tribe) and Sami Reynolds combined for five RBI, including a home run from Espinoza. She was one of three Huskies with multiple hits, along with Taryn Atlee and Amirah Milloy.

Washington faced its only deficit of the series in the game, but it last just one-third of an inning, with the Huskies responding to a two-run first by Arizona with four runs in the second. It was one of two innings Washington brought at least eight batters to the plate.

Gabbie Plain pitched the first two innings of the game before Taran Alvelo came in. The senior was dominant, only allowing two baserunners and not allowing a hit in her first three innings of work. Alvelo would thrice retire the side in order, including a perfect seventh inning.

Washington wraps up the regular season next weekend, hosting Stanford for a three-game series in Seattle.
