JAMESTOWN, NY – One last gift arrived for Jamestown Community College (JCC) in the way of an 83-60 win for the women’s basketball team as they opened the spring semester by topping Penn State Dubois.
The Jayhawks never trailed against the four-year school, building an early 15-9 lead behind Kendra Altadonna after a fast break layup. The sophomore finished the night with 14 points and five rebounds.
A lot of the damage for Jamestown came from freshman Mila Espinoza. She went on a personal 7-0 run in the second quarter, part of her game-high 30 points. Her outburst helped JCC’s lead grow to 29-17 at the 6:03 mark of the second quarter.
The Jayhawks would lead 39-24 going to the break.
Dubois looked like a different team coming out of half, with Elizabeth Hungiville finding a groove. The sophomore led her team with 18.
The skid didn’t last long, as Jani Washington knocked down a pair of buckets en route to 23 for the sophomore.
Jamestown didn’t look back from there, ultimately securing the 23-point victory.
The win moves JCC to 9-4 on the season and is a fantastic opening to the second semester.
