LAWRENCE, Kan. — Haskell Indian Nations University delivered a dominant wire-to-wire performance, rolling past Hesston College 89–46 behind relentless defense, balanced scoring, and efficient ball movement.
Haskell set the tone immediately, opening the game on a 14–2 run fueled by Jazlynn Nosie’s playmaking and early baskets from Tierzah Penn and Angela Astorga. Ona Dauphinais followed with a pair of free throws and a three as the Lady Indians forced turnovers on consecutive possessions and pushed the lead to double figures before the midpoint of the first quarter. By the end of the period, Haskell had built a commanding 29–11 advantage, forcing Hesston into hurried shots and capitalizing in transition.
The momentum carried into the second quarter as Haskell’s depth made an impact. Alana Stephens sparked the offense with a three-pointer and multiple defensive rebounds, while Jayla Flient converted inside to extend the margin. The Lady Indians continued to pressure the ball, turning steals into easy scores and closing the half on top 42–15.
Haskell remained in control after the break. Ivy Fox scored repeatedly in the paint and from beyond the arc, while Dauphinais and Penn kept the offense flowing with timely finishes and assists. The Lady Indians stretched the lead to 65–35 by the end of the third quarter, continuing to win the rebounding battle and limit Hesston’s second-chance opportunities.
In the fourth, Haskell put the finishing touches on the victory. Stephens and Fox connected again early, and Astorga knocked down a late three as Haskell cruised to the 89–46 final. The Lady Indians’ balanced attack and defensive intensity never wavered, sealing an emphatic win from start to finish.
