LAWRENCE, Kan. — Haskell Indian Nations University put together one of its most complete offensive performances of the season, pulling away in the second half for a 97–85 victory over Clarke University on Wednesday.
Haskell set the tone early behind the steady play of Ivy Fox, who scored the Fighting Indians’ first basket and consistently attacked the rim throughout the opening quarter. Despite several early ties, Haskell closed the first 10 minutes on top 19–19, showing balance with contributions from Ona Dauphinais, Angela Astorga, and strong ball movement that led to multiple assisted baskets.
The second quarter saw Haskell begin to separate. Fox continued to finish inside, while Tierzah Penn knocked down timely perimeter shots to keep momentum on the Haskell side. The Fighting Indians used defensive pressure to create turnovers and extra possessions, edging Clarke at halftime 38–34.
Haskell’s best stretch came after the break. Astorga and Dauphinais scored inside to open the third quarter, and Penn caught fire from beyond the arc as Haskell stretched the lead to double digits. The Fighting Indians poured in 31 points in the third, building a 69–61 advantage heading into the final period.
Clarke attempted to rally in the fourth, trimming the margin with outside shooting, but Haskell answered each push. Penn continued her hot shooting, Fox converted key baskets in transition, and Astorga added points at the free-throw line as the Fighting Indians maintained control. Haskell closed the game with confidence at the stripe and strong rebounding to secure the 97–85 win.
Fox led Haskell with a strong all-around performance, scoring repeatedly in transition and finishing through contact. Penn provided a major lift from long range and at the free-throw line, while Dauphinais added points in every quarter and contributed on the glass. Haskell’s defense also proved decisive, forcing turnovers that led to key scoring runs in the second half.
