1st Quarter: Haskell Jumps Out to an Early Lead
Haskell Indian Nations University established an early advantage, capitalizing on multiple Sterling misses and turnovers. Haskell opened the scoring with an Angela Astorga layup and later used a run of points, including a three-pointer from Ona Dauphinais and scores by Ivy Fox, to build a double-digit cushion. Sterling’s offense relied heavily on Kali Briar, who hit two three-pointers to briefly take the lead, but Haskell finished the quarter strong with a Allie Greene three-pointer, leading 22-13.
2nd Quarter: Sterling Claws Back
Sterling showed resilience in the second quarter, chipping away at Haskell’s lead. Despite Haskell extending the lead to 11 points, Sterling’s Karlee Jacobs knocked down two three-pointers and McKenna Vogl added key layups and jump shots. Vogl was also active defensively, logging a block and two steals. Sterling ended the half on a high note with free throws from Rori Miles to narrow the deficit to just one point.

Sterling relied on timely scoring from Aja Spencer and Karlee Jacobs, who both hit crucial three-pointers, with Jacobs’ three putting Sterling ahead 45-43. Sterling’s defense stepped up, forcing turnovers and limiting Haskell’s field goals to pull ahead by four points entering the final frame.

Allie Greene tied the game at 59-59 with a jump shot and then gave Haskell the lead for good with a free throw. The final minutes saw Haskell go on a decisive run, fueled by aggressive defense and scoring from Ivy Fox, Jayla Flient, and Ona Dauphinais, pushing their lead to 73-62. Sterling attempted a late rally with a Jacobs three-pointer and a Briar layup, but Haskell sealed the victory with free throws from Trinity Wheeler.
