Haskell Indian Nations University women win 83-73 over Mission behind Myona Dauphinais 26 points

Lawrence, Kansas — Haskell Indian Nations University leaned on a red-hot shooting night and balanced scoring to hand Mission (Mo.) a 83–73 loss Tuesday at the Coffin Sports Complex. The home team took charge early and never looked back, riding standout performances from their starting five to a convincing win.

From the tip, Haskell set the tone. Guard/forward Ona Dauphinais poured in a game-high 26 points, going 9 of 16 from the field — including 5 of 12 from deep — and adding 6 assists and 5 rebounds.

Ivy Fox was nearly as dominant, chipping in 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting while grabbing 7 boards and dishing out 2 assists. Meanwhile, Angela Astorga and Tierzah Penn each contributed double-digit scoring (13 and 8 points respectively), and Astorga hauled in a game-leading 10 rebounds.

That kind of balance — three players in double figures with multiple playmakers helping push pace — made Haskell tough to slow. The Indians hit 29 of 73 overall (39.7 %) and buried 8 of 32 from three (25.0 %), while showing scrappy board work (49 total rebounds, 32 on the defensive end) to limit second-chance looks.

Mission countered with effort and flashes of offense. Guard Ireland Jones led the Patriots with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Forward Tara Masten added 10 points on 2-of-8 shooting, and guard Kayla Howell came off the bench to score 13 of her own.

But Mission’s offense cooled down in the second half, and inconsistent shooting (26 of 64 overall, 11 of 28 from three) couldn’t match Haskell’s early surge.

Haskell jumped out to a 28–20 first-quarter lead behind hot outside shooting and transition baskets. The Indians extended the cushion in the second quarter, even as Mission attempted a comeback with timely threes. But Haskell’s balance — scoring inside and out — kept the Patriots at bay.

In the second half, HINU maintained control. Strong defense, particularly on the boards, limited Mission’s second-chance opportunities, while steady services from the guards ensured Haskell’s offense never stalled.

When the final buzzer sounded, Haskell had delivered a full-team effort, outscoring Mission 83–73.
