by ALBUQUERQUE — Seenane Brewer put down 11 kills Sunday night as New Mexico beat San Jose State 3-1 at The Pit, completing a weekend sweep of the Spartans.
San Jose State took the opening set 25-23, but the Lobos answered by taking the next three, 25-18, 26-24 and 25-19, to close out the four-set win. Brewer’s 11 kills paced the Lobos’ attack in the rematch, two days after her 17-kill night in Friday’s win over the same Spartans.
San Jose State was led by Zuzana Kosíková with 12 kills, Naima Foster with 11 and Ava Hewitt-Smith with 10, but the Spartans could not hold their early lead.
The win, New Mexico’s second over San Jose State in three days, moves the Lobos to 9-11 overall and 7-3 in Mountain West play. New Mexico stays home to host Grand Canyon on Oct. 29.
