ALBUQUERQUE — Junior outside hitter Seenane Brewer put down a team-high 17 kills Friday night as New Mexico beat San Jose State 3-1 at The Pit, keeping the Lobos’ late-season surge rolling.
New Mexico controlled the match at home, taking three of four sets against the Spartans to win its sixth match in seven outings.
Brewer has been one of the faces of the Lobos’ turnaround. The Lawrence, Kan., native has emerged as a key option on the outside after entering the weekend on a tear, and her 17 kills led all Lobos attackers against SJSU.
The win moves New Mexico to 8-11 overall and 6-3 in Mountain West play, keeping the Lobos in the thick of the race in the upper half of the league table.
