by LAWRENCE, Kan. — The Haskell Indian Nations University volleyball team controlled the net and capitalized on opponent errors to sweep Graceland University in straight sets (25-15, 25-22, 25-13).
Haskell set the tone early in the opening set, racing out to an 8-1 lead capitalized by strong service runs from Jaspen Ellenwood and Mecca Goldsberry. Offensively, setter Jaspen Ellenwood orchestrated a balanced attack, repeatedly finding Mya Dalgai and Tressa Jim at the net. Dalgai delivered key kills throughout the set, while service aces from Alaina Dugi and Darrilyn Tessay kept Graceland on its heels. Haskell comfortably closed out the first set, 25-15, following a series of Graceland attack errors.
The second set proved to be the most competitive stretch of the match. Graceland mounted a mid-set rally behind key attacks from Arlivia White, pulling within two points late at 22-20 and 23-21. However, Haskell stayed composed under pressure. Dalgai provided crucial answers with timely kills, and defensive stops—highlighted by a joint block from Nevaeh Straley and Dalgai—helped Haskell hold off the surge to secure the 25-22 win.
Haskell wasted no time putting the third set out of reach. Starting with a 5-0 run fueled by strong serving from Dugi and net presence from Jim, Haskell consistently forced Graceland into high-error sequences. Setter Darrilyn Tessay seamlessly shared distribution duties, feeding Jim and Straley for consecutive kills. Up 23-10 after a late block from Dalgai and Sandra St. Clair, Haskell absorbed a minor late-set run from Graceland before Jim sealed the match sweep with a final kill to make it 25-13.
