RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU junior forward Landry Allen turned in one of the most dominant two-game stretches of her season last week and was rewarded with another Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor.
The recognition marks Allen’s seventh weekly defensive award of the season out of 11 opportunities.
Facing two of the GAC’s top teams, Allen averaged eight blocks, 7.5 rebounds, and four steals as the Lady Bulldogs split the week. In Thursday’s 84-56 win over (rv) Arkansas Tech, Allen recorded her second double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds. She narrowly missed a triple-double, finishing with nine blocks. The performance made her just the second Division II player this season to record nine or more blocks in multiple games. It also marked the first time since the 2021-22 season that a GAC player has accomplished the feat, and only the third occurrence since the league’s inception.
Two days later against No. 15 Harding, Allen continued her impact on both ends, scoring in double figures for a seventh straight game while adding seven more blocks and four steals.
Allen now ranks second in Division II with 4.75 blocks per game. Within the Great American Conference, she sits eighth in scoring at 15.3 points per game, seventh in rebounding at 6.9 per contest, and second in steals at 2.4 per game.
