(Claremore, Oklahoma) – Haskell used a strong first half and timely answers down the stretch to earn a 77–69 upset win over NCAA Division II Rogers State on Saturday.
The game opened with both teams feeling each other out, but after Rogers State struck first, Haskell quickly settled in. Lish Spoonhunter and Tierzah Penn helped keep the offense moving early, while Ivy Fox and Ona Dauphinais provided a steady scoring touch. After Rogers State briefly took a 12–9 lead midway through the first quarter, Haskell closed the period on a decisive run, highlighted by baskets from Fox, Angela Astorga and Dauphinais, to take a 23–15 advantage.
Haskell extended control in the second quarter behind its defensive pressure and balanced scoring. Fox attacked the lane for multiple finishes, while Dauphinais and Penn connected from the perimeter. The Fighting Indians outscored Rogers State 18–10 in the period, forcing several turnovers that led to transition points, and carried a commanding 41–25 lead into halftime.
Rogers State tried to respond after the break, trimming the margin early in the third quarter, but Haskell answered each push. Penn and Astorga combined for key buckets, and Jayla Flient added energy on both ends, including blocks and free throws. Haskell maintained its composure and closed the third quarter ahead 59–44.
In the fourth, Rogers State made one last surge, cutting the deficit to single digits multiple times. Haskell, however, remained poised at the foul line and leaned on Fox and Penn for late scoring. Free throws in the final minute sealed the outcome as Haskell protected its lead and closed out the victory.
Ivy Fox led Haskell with 27 points, hitting 9 of 16 from the field and a perfect 8 of 8 from the free throw line. Dauphinais contributed 17 points, including three 3-pointers, and added six assists to the team’s effort. Tierzah Penn added 15 points, also making three 3-pointers, and recorded three assists. Angela Astorga provided defensive support with two steals and six rebounds. Jayla Flient was a force on defense, registering three blocks in the game.
