Box Score
(St. Louis, MO) – In a game characterized by dominant runs, Haskell Indian Nations University women secured a decisive victory over UHSP with a final score of 93-79. Haskell’s offensive firepower, especially from beyond the arc, proved too much for UHSP to handle, despite a late-game surge from the visitors.
First Quarter: Haskell’s Early Three-Point Barrage
Haskell jumped out to a huge early lead, establishing control with a 13-0 run powered primarily by the perimeter shooting of Ona Dauphinais. Dauphinais hit three consecutive three-pointers, two assisted by Tierzah Penn, to build a commanding advantage. Ivy Fox added points at the free-throw line, and Angela Astorga controlled the boards. UHSP struggled offensively, but managed to get on the board with a layup from Taylor Hitchcock and scoring from Alise Milenberga and Montasia McAllister to end the quarter down 26-14.
Second Quarter: The Lead Grows
Haskell continued to build on its lead in the second quarter. Ona Dauphinais and Tierzah Penn each knocked down a three-pointer in the first two minutes. Ivy Fox‘s steal led to a layup and a free throw, pushing the lead to 40-18. UHSP showed signs of life with a three-pointer from Taylor Hitchcock and one from Da’naiyah Darnell, assisted by Arianna Buduan. Analyssa Maldonado was key for UHSP late in the quarter with a three-pointer and a subsequent three-point play, but Haskell maintained a significant lead, heading into halftime up 52-36.
Third Quarter: Haskell Maintains Control
Haskell quickly reasserted its dominance after the break, with Ona Dauphinais hitting another three-pointer and Angela Astorga adding a layup. Fox and Penn both added assists. Although UHSP managed to hit a couple of three-pointers from Alina Bowden and Taylor Hitchcock, Haskell’s consistency, marked by another three from Dauphinais and a late one from Penn, kept the lead substantial. Alana Stephens also contributed with two layups, extending the lead to 74-54 going into the final quarter.
Fourth Quarter: High-Scoring Finish
The final quarter was high-paced with both teams scoring. Haskell opened with a layup from Ivy Fox and a jump shot from Alana Stephens, while UHSP’s Alise Milenberga answered with two jump shots. Haskell’s Alana Stephens and Jayla Flient kept the offense moving. UHSP made a determined effort late in the game, with Analyssa Maldonado hitting two three-pointers and Ceili Ramirez adding one, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. Bowden added five points in the last two minutes for UHSP, but Haskell closed out the game strong, winning 93-79.
