by DALLAS – Middle Tennessee senior guard Alayna Contreras has been named to the 2025-26 Conference USA Women’s Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team, while the Blue Raiders were picked third in the league’s preseason poll, the conference office announced Thursday.
Contreras, a transfer from UMKC, is set to make her Blue Raider debut following a standout 2024-25 campaign in the Summit League. The Minneapolis, Minn., native earned Second Team All-Summit League honors last season after starting all 33 games and leading the Roos in scoring (17.3 ppg), minutes, field goals, three-point field goals and free throws. She posted 28 double-digit scoring performances, including 16 straight games in double figures, 13 games with 20 or more points and four 30-point outings.
This marks just the sixth time in Head Coach Rick Insell‘s 21 seasons that Middle Tennessee has not been tabbed the preseason favorite — and only the fourth such instance in CUSA.
