Coconino CC sophomores Cian Davis (Apache), Theodore Round Face (Crow/Navajo) Named ACCAC Athletes of the Week

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz — Coconino Community College sophomores Cian Davis and Theodore Round Face have been recognized as the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) Athletes of the Week following standout performances at the Embry-Riddle Invitational in Prescott.

Davis continued to establish herself as one of the top junior college runners in the nation, finishing 10th overall in the women’s 5K with a time of 21:27.27. Her effort led the Comets to a third-place team finish, just two points behind runner-up Arizona Christian. The performance marked a 41-second improvement over her time at last year’s meet, underscoring the progress she has made in her sophomore campaign.

On the men’s side, Round Face turned in a breakthrough race, placing 8th overall in the 8K with a season-best time of 27:57.01. His result was nearly a full minute faster than his 2024 finish at the same meet, and he stood out as one of the top junior college runners in a field dominated by host Embry-Riddle.

Head Coach Craig Hunt praised both athletes for setting the tone early in the season.“Cian and Theo have been leading by example with their work ethic and consistency, and it’s great to see them recognized at the conference level. These honors are well-deserved, and I know they’ll use this momentum to keep pushing themselves and their teammates forward.”

The awards mark the first ACCAC Athlete of the Week selections of the season for CCC cross country. Both Davis and Round Face will look to build on their success when the Comets return to action at the CSN Tri-State Meet on Friday, September 26, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
