IOWA FALLS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team hit the road Wednesday night for a duel with Ellsworth Community College. The Hawks took a dominant road victory in conference play by a final score of 72-46.
Northeast (12-15, 8-10 ICCAC) shot 70-percent from the field in the first half against the Panthers and cruised to a 43-27 advantage at halftime. Allison Richards led the way with 24 points while Sharissa Haas (Pine Ridge, S.D.) and Amber Lawson (Wynot, Neb.) were also both in double figures with 15 and 14 points. The 26-point triumph marked the largest for the Hawks since back on January 20 against Southeastern Community College.

“Coming off a tough weekend loss, I like how our team responded tonight,” Svehla said. “We did a pretty good job on both ends of the court and got contributions from several players.”
Svehla on hitting the road again next with just two games left in the regular season:
“We want to be playing our best basketball down the stretch, so hopefully we can build on this game as we head out on another road trip this weekend,” Svehla said.
