The Lady Bears hit the road to Wesson Monday night and emerged victorious over the host Co-Lin Lady Wolves, 79-69.
With the win, the Lady Bears moved to 3-2 on the season while Co-Lin fell to 3-2.
The Lady Bears held a 41-28 lead at the end of the first half after hitting 53.1% of their field goals.
In the second half, the Lady Bears seemed poised to run away with the game, leading by as many as 18 points. But, Co-Lin would not quit and pulled to within seven points late in the game.
But, the Lady Bears refused to give in as they held on to pick up the big win.
“First of all, it’s great to get to play,” said Lady Bears head man Brent Harris. “We shot the ball pretty well. Jerryonne Owens had a strong night in the post.”
“Defensively, we can get better,” Harris continued. “We will go back to work tomorrow and, hopefully, improve a little each day.”
The Lady Bears’ Sydni Tangle (Mississippi Choctaw) topped all scorers in the game with 21 points. Mikayla Etienne followed with 17 points. Owens picked up 13 points and Taylor Ben (Mississippi Choctaw) had 10.
The Lady Bears went 7-16 at the free throw line.
